It all started when our company founder, Hung Tran, was tutoring undergraduate students while working on his PhD from the University of Iowa. He was taking on as many students as possible, hit a capacity limit given the work required for his degree as well.
The demand for tutors was high so he built a network that connected undergraduate students at his university to his friends that were studying elsewhere. This marked a shift in the way we understood tutoring - virtual sessions were not only as effective (if not more) than the traditional, in-person sessions, but were also much more convenient for students and tutors.
And so, we started with the mission of enabling human-human text chat conversations through an on-demand micro-tutoring service in education and in the workplace. As we scaled these chat-enabled services to millions of sessions, we developed a global workforce of over 10,000 subject-matter, tutoring Experts who joined the Got It Platform. We developed the screening and training processes and built robust manual and automated auditing processes for session quality. We built additional automation into our Platform which propelled our PhotoStudy & ExcelChat services, having supported over 1 million learners to date.
The Got It journey started almost 10 years ago and students still need help outside of the classroom. While the challenges remain, the technology is better. The complete Got It Education toolkit now fully supports students during the micro-tutoring sessions we started with through PhotoStudy, gives the extra advantage with open-ended sessions through StudyBoost, brings their math textbook to life through MathGPT, and supports social studying through our Discord Bot. While our platform, products and services have evolved, we remain committed to our mission of impacting educational opportunity by transforming academic support outside of the classroom.
